    Step One

Therapy is a very vulnerable process and requires that you feel comfortable with your therapist and our consultation helps you get started. The quickest way to get started is to book a 30-minute consultation below.

This consultation is designed to get a better sense of what you want and need in therapy, assess how I can help, and answer any questions you might have about getting started. If we decide we are a good fit we will schedule the intake assessment.

    Step Two

After scheduling your intake assessment, I will email you the online intake form. Please complete the form thoroughly at least 48 hours before your first appointment on any tablet, smartphone, or computer. The intake form takes about 25-30 minutes to complete, as it includes questions about your present concerns and relevant history to help your therapist get to know you.

The intake form also serves as your written permission to engage in therapy. Sessions cannot start without the intake form being completed.

  • Therapy For Black Christian Professionals and Entrepreneurs in Boston, MA and Missouri City, TX

    Step Three

The initial session allows you and I to begin establishing a therapeutic relationship, as I get a sense of your present concerns and relevant history for the both of us to tailor your treatment goals together.

Research shows that people progress better when seen weekly. The therapeutic relationship is a core element of your progress, and it is important for you and your therapist to meet weekly. Therefore, I prefer meeting weekly. The number of sessions you will need varies tremendously depending on what you would like to work through, this will be discussed during your first session and throughout treatment.

If progress is made, then you and I can discuss changes to a bi-weekly schedule. A biweekly schedule is appropriate for maintenance. I do not start treatment with biweekly or monthly meetings because symptoms are most acute and needs are greatest in the beginning. If meeting weekly is a challenge for you or you're not sure about your commitment to therapy, I might not be the right fit for you. I am are happy to provide referrals for other therapists. I am committed to working with individuals who really want to do the work, and that means showing up each week.

If suicidal thoughts are present, call 911 immediately or have someone take you to the nearest emergency room if you are worried about yourself or a loved one taking their own life.

If you are currently experiencing a severe mental illness or active substance abuse we recommend you seek outpatient services at a local program.
